Step by step

How to get your analytics out of LinkedIn

Postaboo reads two things LinkedIn already gives you. The export file starts your report; the overview page is your weekly check-in after that. Neither needs your LinkedIn password.

The export file

About a minute. Gives the full report.

  1. 1

    Open LinkedIn on a computer

The export button is only on the desktop website, not in the phone app.

  2. 2

    Go to your content analytics

From your home page, choose "View all analytics" under your name, then "Content analytics" (or "Post impressions").

  3. 3

    Choose the longest date range

Change the date filter to "Past 365 days". A longer range gives a better picture of your posts and audience.

  4. 4

    Press Export

LinkedIn downloads a spreadsheet whose name starts with "AggregateAnalytics". Leave it as it is; there is no need to open it.

  5. 5

    Drop it into Postaboo

Drag the file onto the upload box on our home page, or click the box and pick it from your Downloads folder.

Open LinkedIn content analytics

The overview page

About ten seconds. Your weekly check-in.

  1. 1

    Open your analytics overview

From your LinkedIn home page, choose "View all analytics" under your name. This works on a phone too.

  2. 2

    Select everything on the page

On a computer press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on a Mac). On a phone, press and hold on some text, then choose "Select all".

  3. 3

    Copy

Press Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on a Mac), or choose "Copy" on a phone.

  4. 4

    Paste it into Postaboo

Click in the overview box on our home page and paste. We pick out the numbers and ignore everything else.

Common questions

See all questions

What is in the export file?

Daily impressions and engagements, your top 50 posts, daily new followers, and a breakdown of who follows you and who sees your posts. It does not contain your messages, connections or password.

Why paste the overview as well?

It has figures the export leaves out: profile viewers, search appearances, and how much you posted and commented this week. LinkedIn only shows the current week, so pasting it weekly builds a history you cannot get anywhere else.

I cannot find the Export button

It is at the top right of the content analytics page, and only on the desktop website. LinkedIn moves things around from time to time, so the wording may differ slightly from the steps above.

Do you keep my file?

No. The file is read once and discarded. We store the numbers taken from it so your report link keeps working. Read the privacy page.
