I have been banned from the BBQ.  Seriously.  When hubs and I were dating I overcooked a steak and that was it for my BBQing days.  That was over 10 years ago. 

That all changed when I found this recipe for Ranch Cheddar Burgers over at Once A Month Mom.  The ban was lifted.  I did not take any pictures of my own burgers. I promise to update with my own pictures the next time I make them!

There are a few things about this recipe.  These freeze great!  So make extra for the freezer for those hectic summer days.  Trust me, you will thank yourself for that!  The other thing is the homemade ranch.  Dont freak out!  Not as hard as it sounds.  The recipe is included here too.  Again make extra.  You will feel better knowing what your family is eating! 

Ranch Cheddar Buggers from OAMM

Ranch Cheddar Burgers

Ingredients:

• 2 lbs ground beef
• 1 cup shredded or cubed cheddar cheese
• 3 Tbsp Ranch Dressing Mix

Make your own Ranch Dressing Mix:

• 5 Tbsp dried minced onions
• 7 tsp parsley flakes
• 4 tsp salt
• 2 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion salt

**To make a dressing from the dry ranch dressing mix: Combine 2 Tbsp dry mix with 3/4 cup buttermilk.

Directions:

Combine beef, ranch dressing mix and shredded cheddar cheese. Gently shape 6 patties of equal size and thickness. With your thumb, or back of a spoon, make a shallow indentation about 1 inch wide in the center of each patty. This helps that patties to cook evenly. Grill patties over direct high heat with the lid closed as much as possible, until cooked to medium doneness – 8-10 minutes, turning once. Or cook in fry pan on stove top over med- high heat until done. If desired, during the last minute of grilling, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt. Serve warm on hamburger buns with tomatoes, lettuce and ranch dressing.

Freezing Directions:

Combine beef, ranch dressing mix and shredded cheddar cheese. Gently shape 6 patties of equal size and thickness. With your thumb, or back of a spoon, make a shallow indentation about 1 inch wide in the center of each patty. This helps that patties to cook evenly. Place a small square of wax or parchment paper between each patty and place in gallon size freezer bag. Freeze up to 3 months. TO SERVE: Thaw desired number of patties. Grill patties over direct high heat with the lid closed as much as possible, until cooked to medium doneness – 8-10 minutes, turning once. Or cook in fry pan on stove top over med- high heat until done. If desired, during the last minute of grilling/frying, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt. Serve warm on hamburger buns with tomatoes, lettuce and ranch dressing.

Servings: 6 burgers

So my daughter guilted me into taking a quick trip to Shopper’s Drug Mart tonight. Since it was such a lovely evening and hubby was out at an appointment I decided to agree and go for a walk.

Whiskas Cat food! One of the cheaper “Brand” Name brand cat food.  This is the brand our “Dexter” eats.  He’ll also eat the dog’s food.  But he needs his Whiskas!

The Regular Price at Walmart is $7.93 for 1.5kg

It will sometimes go on sale for $7.49 and once in a while for $6.99.

This Year there is a tear pad for any Whiskas Dry Cat food for $1.75

Shoppers Drug Mart carries this size and brand for $9.49 ( Ouch!!!)

No Frills also carries this brand and size for $7.99 .( Similar to Walmart’s prices)

For Me when I run out in between sales. I will pick it up at Walmart.

I picked up a few  bags today with Walmart using coupons $7.93 – $1.75 = $6.18 per bag.

If they would of been on sale at the low $6.99 I would of only paid $5.24 per bag.  ( Savings of $2.69)

Or a Huge savings over Not using this at Shoppers Drug Mart at $9.49 – $5.24 = ($ 4.24 for savings)
